If you’re blessed with having a spare room in your apartment and have the luxury of turning it into something great, you’re one of the luckiest people on the planet. You can choose to adapt the room into almost anything you want and start using it more often than before. On the other hand, we all have a room we don’t actually use but keep it that way as a force of habit. That goes for all the rooms we hardly ever use, but always see some potential in them. No matter how big or small your room is, if you give it a new purpose, you’ll make a huge difference in your home.
Create a meditation room
All those yoga enthusiasts will be thrilled with the idea of having a quiet corner in their home. A calm meditation room can be just right for those who lead a stressful life and need a place to feel centered. If you add some cozy pillows and blankets, you can even drink your morning coffee there and enjoy listening to some soothing tunes. Apart from that, you can add some yoga mats and get down to practicing your favorite positions in your new tranquility den. With the busy schedule and too many things going on in the rest of the apartment, you’ll be able to take a step back and there’s no better way to start or finish your day than by practicing yoga.
Make a small gym
We all have our excuses for not going to the gym, but if you create a small workout studio in your home, you won’t have any. Depending on your workout habits and what you like doing in the gym, you can equip this room with everything from a treadmill to some weights and dumbbells. Then you’ll be able to see how you function in the room and how much space you actually have. Try to find a multi-functional workout machine that will allow you to do multiple workouts and save you a ton of space.
Set up an office
This is something many people need but never found the time to create. Using your kitchen table for work is harder than you think, but you don’t need much for a basic office layout – all you need are some ergonomic office chairs and a big desk. Apart from that, you’ll need a storage unit to keep everything organized and close to your reach. You can play with the décor to boost your productivity and efficiency. No matter whether you work from home or bring your work home, you’ll be able to achieve more on a daily basis if you have a designated area specified for work-related stuff.
A cozy guest room
Since Airbnb is becoming more and more popular, you can use the spare room to make some cash on the side. Check out the offer in your neighborhood and see what people are looking for. You won’t need much at the beginning and a simple bed and a closet will do. Add some scented candles, a cozy chair, and a rug to make it more comfortable. Later on, you can add recommendations for some fine restaurants, include a breakfast in your offer and everything else your potential guests will find suitable.
A walk-in closet
Every fashionista has the same problem – the lack of the space for clothes and shoes. The spare room can be a perfect solution and you don’t need much to turn it into a walk-in closet. Build some shelves for your wardrobe and you can even make your own layout depending on the type of clothes. Add some hooks for your coats and jackets, and garments racks for shirt and blouses. If you want to be more creative, you can add a small makeup station and a table to display your accessories. It goes without saying that open shelves are a must for showing off your collection of shoes.
Having a spare room gives you the opportunity to create a space for yourself and enjoy your habits. Sometimes it can be helpful to take a moment to relax and dedicate that area to being creative. No matter what you choose, these project will help you make the most of every inch of free space in your home.
